Twilight Holiday Happening

November 28, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Kick Off the Holidays with Family Fun at the Twilight Holiday Happening

This annual evening event scheduled with each Christmas exhibit will be even bigger and better this year! Mark your calendar for a very special day, the Twilight Holiday Happening will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 7:00-8:30 PM to “Kick-Off” the Holiday season in southwest Kansas and it’s a great way to close this festive exhibit at the Stauth Memorial Museum of Montezuma Kansas. Donations are encouraged and gratefully accepted as all the funds raised at this important fundraising event will help defray the costs of the Traveling Exhibitions scheduled in 2017.

We’ve picked this night for you to relax with the sights, sounds and smells of the Holidays. Come enjoy this special evening of lights, music and refreshments to experience this breathtaking exhibit in never seen before illuminated, twinkling splendor. Share our festive evening, bring family & friends and enjoy the best of the holiday season in southwest Kansas! You can even take your family Holiday photos in our Christmas Photo Op! setting! Food! Fun! Giving! Making Memories!

Featured events this year include: Door Prizes, Trivia Contest, Kids Crafts, Refreshments, Caroling, Centerpiece Raffle and a Holiday Wreath Silent Auction to cap off this fun evening and to Kick-Off the Christmas season in southwest Kansas.

We are asking clubs, civic organizations, groups, businesses, individuals, artists, etc. to generously donate a decorated Holiday Wreath for our silent auction! By donating a Holiday Wreath for this exciting event you are not only ensuring the continuation of quality exhibits, programs and activities here at the Stauth Museum, but also sharing your creativity and Christmas spirit with Southwest Kansas! Wreaths will be accepted anytime from now until 5:00 on Monday, November 28, 2016 during regular business hours or by special appointment.

The Holiday Wreaths will be on display for enjoyment through the Twilight Holiday Happening. The silent auction bidding will start at 7:00 PM and stop at 8:00 PM so the lucky winners can take home their Holiday Wreaths in time to enjoy them for the Holiday season. This is a great opportunity for you to get a beautifully decorated holiday wreath for your home or get a great gift for family and friends and raise funds for the Museum too!

For the fifth year we are having a Centerpiece Raffle! Bring nonperishable food items or unwrapped toys for the Gray County Food Banks and get a chance to win one of five beautiful centerpieces! For every five FOOD items OR unwrapped NEW TOY you bring for this worthy cause, you will receive one chance at one of the five festive, gift-filled centerpieces. The more you give, the more chances you have to win! (Door prize and Centerpiece Raffle winners must be present to win!) We are having a coat, hat and glove/mitten drive as well, so please bring your gently used coats you don’t wear anymore, and the hats, mittens or gloves just sitting in the drawer unused and make someone “toasty” when it gets cold this year! We will be accepting these throughout the exhibit so even if you can’t come to this event, you still have the opportunity to help others!

Along with the great refreshments and cool door prizes, this is your last chance to see the 15 different Christmas mini-exhibits that are displayed in Christmas Traditions of Southwest Kansas 2016. Southwest Kansas individuals, service clubs, groups, organizations, and merchants have created 15 mini-exhibits featuring holiday themes, collections, family heirlooms, homemade family mementos and more. The exhibits bring back fond memories of Christmas’ past, show you where to find the newest trends in holiday decorations, and inspire ideas for fun ways to create new memories. There is even a Christmas Photo Op setting! Visitors can use this area specifically designed to take Christmas photos with your friends & family to use with their Christmas cards or family Christmas letters. Check out pictures of these exhibits on our Facebook page! These exhibits are created and decorated by southwest Kansans thus bringing the traditions and spirit of “Christmas in Southwest Kansas” to the museum and its visitors. This beautiful, uplifting exhibit is a must see, memorable experience for all ages.
